This is one of a series of talks given by Sayadaw U Jotika as an introduction to a retreat mainly attended by experienced meditators in Melbourne, Australia in 1998. However Sayadaw’s discussion is so broad that it is of fascinating interest to all. In this talk he expands in detail on the difference between conventional reality and ultimate reality and between Relative Truth and Ultimate Truth. In his translation of the names of the Four Noble Truths, he shows a deeper aspect of their meaning.

As always he brings his own personal experience into his talks. For instance, his understanding of quantum physics and how as a youth he followed stoic philosophy are but two of many instances. He answers questions with deep answer about how meditative experience can make ordinary life so much more meaningful and easy and how to leave depression behind.

It is amazing how much wisdom can be packed into so few pages and of course it all comes from Sayadaw’s deep understanding of the Dhamma, the Teachings of the Buddha.
