This collection of Paritta Pali by the renowned Sayadaw U Silananda provide instructive texts together with important translations. The Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, the Discourse on the Turning of the Wheel of Dhamma, is the Buddha’s First Sermon. Rare is the person, amongst the laity of a Buddhist country such as Myanmar, who has not heard of this discourse, any many are those who have committed it to memory. There are religious groups, know as “Wheel of Dhamma is reciting Societies,” in almost every town and village in Myanmar, set up to recite and listen to the Sutta. Buddhist followers regard this Sutta with great esteem and veneration.
Chanted and listened to, with understanding, concentration and devotion, the “Great Paritta” and “Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta” have the power to ward off danger and bring good results.
