There is a big lake surrounded by some rocky mountains and there is forest around it, but on one side of the lake imagine a green meadow. The water is very still with no ripples at all, like a big sheet of mirror and the forest is reflected in the water very clearly. Above the mountains the sky is a beautiful blue with fluffy white clouds and the tops of the mountains are covered with snow.
Try to see this image very clearly in your mind. The more vividly you can imagine, the more peaceful you become. An image can create an emotion and since it does not cost anything to imagine peaceful scenery, why don’t we do it more often? This is very powerful.
Sensations, feelings and emotions are what we are living in and what we are living for. That is our world, our real world. We live in the world of sensations, of feelings and of emotions. Meditation is also about sensations, feelings and emotions.
When we start to learn how to meditate, we choose one object of meditation. It may be breathing; paying attention to the sensations near the nostrils. We pay attention to the sensations, nothing else.
